Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 2 ½ oz gin
- ½ oz dry vermouth (adjust to taste)
- 1 dash orange or aromatic bitters (optional)
- Lemon twist or 1 or 3 olives (for garnish)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Chill the glass: Place your martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice and water while you prepare the drink.
- Combine ingredients: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the gin and vermouth. Adjust the vermouth to your preferred dryness level.
- Stir: Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to chill the ingredients.
- Strain: Strain the mixture into your chilled martini glass.
- Garnish: Add a lemon twist or olives for garnish, and optionally, a dash of bitters to elevate the flavor.
Notes
- Use quality ingredients: With just two primary ingredients, it’s essential to use a top-shelf gin and fresh vermouth.
- Garnish wisely: For olives, always use an odd number (1 or 3). An even number is considered bad luck in bartending lore!
- Chill the glass: A frosty glass ensures the martini remains cool and crisp longer.
- Stir, don’t shake: Stirring keeps the drink crystal clear and preserves the smooth texture.
