Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
- Add the Eggs: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
- Mix in Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.
- Stir in the Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Shape the Cookies: Drop rounded tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure your butter and eggs are at room temperature for easier mixing and better consistency.
- Don’t Overmix: Overmixing can lead to tough cookies. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Chill the Dough: For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Storage: Store cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to five days. For extra softness, add a slice of bread to the container.
